LCCC receives 3,000 books!

Yesterday, a few of us from NCFL gathered at Louisville Central Community Center (LCCC) for a special event… a donation of 3,000 books!

The books were a donation from the Half Pint Library, a book donation program sponsored annually by Half-Price Books. This is the second year that LCCC was the Louisville beneficiary of this program.

You should have seen the children’s faces as they waited (through four speeches) to get to the books.

After a few words from Tory (from Half-Price Books), Mr. Watkins (the director of LCCC) and me, the 50 children at the center got to select the book that they wanted to take home. As you can see from the pictures, everyone was very excited about the new books! The rest of the books will become a library at the center so families can read together while at the center.

Thanks to all the children who participated in the celebration!  And thanks to all of you who donated books to the Half Pint Library at your local Half-Price Books stores.  More families across Louisville are reading because of your generosity.
