Policy & Advocacy for Family Literacy
The goal of NCFL's Policy and Advocacy efforts is to design, assess, and advocate for federal and state policies that sustain and expand family literacy and family engagement services.
Family educators operate in a complex world of legislation, policies and funding opportunities. NCFL, with the help of supporters nationwide, continues to play a key role in positioning family literacy and family engagement as effective educational interventions for our nation's most disadvantaged families.
NCFL and the family literacy and family engagement fields have strengthened the role of family literacy in a number of federal laws, including the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Every Student Succeeds Act, the Head Start Act, the Workforce Investment Act, The Workforce Investment and Opportunities Act, and the Community Services Block Grant Act, to name a few.
