SUMMARY:Webinar | Dynamic Resources to Support Families Learning Together
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nJoin the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy to explore high-quality resources and activities to support families learning throughout the year – especially during the summer months! Participants will learn about simple approaches for engaging families and leave with access to free resources to support this. In addition\, we will share two new family literacy initiatives that honor the 100th anniversary of former first lady Barbara Bush’s birthday – our free Literacy Explorer Kits and a Literacy Everywhere contest. \nSpeakers: \nPamela Cote is the Senior Director of Literacy Programs and Partnerships for the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy. She is a seasoned professional with a unique blend of educational and business experience. She has been involved in education for more than 25 years\, following a career in the demanding field of staffing services where she facilitated staff across two branches. Her classroom experience spans elementary through adult education with a focus on literacy and innovative programs. She led one of the top Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy Lighthouse programs in Maine\, working directly with caregivers and their children. \nPam has proven her leadership skills in program design and implementation and has launched initiatives to drive collective impact within communities. An effective communicator and natural teacher\, Pam presents at national conferences to share the Foundation’s tools and to provide training opportunities. She has authored numerous curricula\, parent guides\, and instructor support materials for the Foundation. As the senior technical advisor at the Barbara Bush Foundation\, Pam leads a portfolio of innovative projects designed to bolster and amplify the Foundation’s engagement on adult and family literacy. Her subject matter expertise coupled with her experience cultivating and managing relationships allows the Foundation to produce high-quality content and build sustainable programs and partnerships. \nHeather Brinkworth brings more than two decades of experience in the field of literacy to her role at the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy\, including a unique blend of classroom teaching and educational policy setting. As Technical Program Director\, Heather leads the Foundation’s newest reading mentorship program\, Book Explorers\, and provides subject matter expertise to support the Foundation’s efforts to develop literacy curriculum\, programs\, and technology tools. \nAs an educator\, Heather served as an intensive reading teacher at the secondary level in Title 1 schools in Broward County\, Florida\, with a focus on bringing innovative programs to teachers and students. She previously served as a regional program manager for the Barbara Bush Foundation\, managing reading mentorship programs and family literacy scholarships before serving more than six years on the school board for the sixth largest school district in the nation.
