SUMMARY:National Webinar Series | The Engagement Advantage: Lessons from a Multi-Year Study on Family Engagement
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Eyal Bergman recently released “The Engagement Advantage\,” the culminating report of a rigorous multi-year study on family engagement. In the first stage\, the study found that schools with strong family engagement pre-pandemic experienced far smaller increases in chronic absence post-pandemic\, even after controlling for poverty and other community characteristics. In the second stage\, it sought to understand why some schools outperform expectations when others in their same community do not – and this session will illuminate the distinguishing factors at Bright Spot Schools. Join NCFL on April 21st to explore the intriguing findings of this study. \nREGISTER NOW\nSpeaker: \nDr. Eyal Bergman conducts research to understand the impact of family engagement on student outcomes. He also trains and supports education leaders in building more effective family engagement strategies. He earned his Doctorate of Education Leadership (Ed.L.D.) from Harvard\, and previously founded and led the Family & Community Engagement Office in the Cajon Valley Union School District. He has written numerous publications\, including serving as co-author to Dr. Karen Mapp on the Dual Capacity-Building Framework for Family-School Partnerships (Version 2). Dr. Bergman’s work and views are shaped by his professional roots in community organizing and youth mentoring\, as well as his personal upbringing in a bilingual Latino immigrant home.
