We’re looking for next year’s Toyota Family Teacher of the Year!
The Toyota Family Teacher of the Year Award celebrates teachers who are dedicated to including more than one generation in the educational process. An exemplary educator’s school or program will receive a $20,000 prize to further efforts to engage families in learning together.
NCFL and Toyota will also recognize a second prize winner with a $2,500 prize. Both grand prize and second place winners will be announced in March at the 2015 Families Learning Summit in Houston, Texas.
Eligible family educators:
- Are exceptional at engaging families in their school or community-based organization
- Use and champion innovative intergenerational approaches to help parents and children learn together
- Have a demonstrated record of success
- Have exciting ideas to expand and strengthen their family engagement efforts
- Serve communities and families with high literacy and socioeconomic needs
- Would be successful at communicating learnings and best practices to educators and families across the nation

About Toyota Family Teacher of the Year
Since 1991, Toyota and NCFL have forged successful programs to promote family literacy in the United States. Today, the Toyota/NCFL partnership accounts for 261 family literacy sites in 52 communities and 30 states. As part of this partnership, the Toyota Family Teacher of the Year award has been presented annually since 1997 and recognizes individual teachers’ contributions to engaging families in education.
