Announcing America’s Wonder Year Adventure from Wonderopolis®!

Calling all teachers and families who believe in uncovering learning opportunities in everyday moments: Wonderopolis®, the online learning destination brought to life by the National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL), is on the hunt for families and teachers to become the voice of Wonderopolis.

Wonderopolis is looking for families and teachers who find wonder in daily life. If you’ve ever wondered where that crack in the Liberty Bell came from, whether footballs are really made from pigskin or even where wrinkles come from, then we’re looking for people like you!

Wonderopolis will select five families and teachers to join us for a Wonder Year. Three Wonder Families will share how they learn, play and grow together through wonder — and inspire others to do the same. Two Wonder Teachers will share how they bring this wonder into their classrooms and keep that energy going from school to home and back again.

Families will contribute to the Wonderopolis community in several ways. Each week, Wonder Families will share a learning experience by posting to Wonderopolis and becoming part of the conversation by responding to visitor comments. Families will also promote online and offline events through social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook.

In addition to the responsibilities of Wonder Families, Wonder Teachers will participate in conversations geared toward educators at Thinkfinity.org. Wonder Teachers will also create special biweekly wonder videos to be featured in classrooms and on the Thinkfinity website.

Working together, the Wonder Families and Wonder Teachers will create a bridge between learning in the classroom and learning at home.

What are you waiting for? Applications are due by Saturday, October 22, 2011. Apply today!
