From Sharon: Nominate a student speaker!

NCFL needs your ideas and suggestions on student speakers for the 2009 National Conference on Family Literacy! If you attended this year’s conference, you know how fabulous the student speakers were. We’re already busy looking for stories that are just as inspiring as the ones a few weeks ago.

Please consider submitting student speaker suggestions. We’re looking for individuals with personal stories of triumph, accomplishment and inspiration. The student speakers selected will receive a scholarship to attend next year’s conference in Orlando, Florida! In addition, your program could receive valuable media attention.

Whether it be a student in your class, a fellow family literacy parent going the extra mile or your own child whose life has been improved by a program, nominate him or her for this national honor.

My personal thanks go out to the fabulous speakers at this year’s conference — as well as their dedicated teachers. Thank you Rosa, Terra, Tammy and Nathaniel! Your powerful stories resonated through the attendees, and they make us remember the difference family literacy is making every day.
