MSU Denver | Mustache Dache
Families participating in the Metropolitan State University of Denver’s Toyota Family Learning program have been engaged in running race volunteer support based upon their interests in health and wellness for several months. The first run they assisted with benefited a Latina women’s health clinic and the second supported animal endeavors to battle extinction. Participation was followed by a visit to a local animal sanctuary to understand wild animal rescue needs in Colorado.
In celebration of National Family Literacy Month in November, Denver’s Toyota Family Learning families identified a fun family opportunity that benefited men’s healthcare causes: the Mustache Dache. Held on November 14, parents and children volunteered and participated in the race, parents attended a Parent Time session to learn more about men’s health needs, and parents and children engaged in PACT Time activities.
Each November – National Family Literacy Month – we lift up and celebrate the tireless efforts of family literacy and family-focused programs, and this year we’re shining a spotlight on 10 of NCFL’s partner organizations as they host family learning events in communities across the U.S.
