Recognize libraries’ contribution to family literacy
While celebrating National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week — September 13 through 19 — it’s important to recognize the role that libraries can play with family literacy. Libraries across the country have been integral to driving family literacy – supporting families via numerous literacy programs and working to instill a love of reading and learning together. And the best could be yet to come.
Later today, libraries from all over the country are coming together to attend a webinar offered by the Urban Libraries Council — Public Libraries as a Central Driver of Family Literacy — and NCFL’s own Laura Westberg is the keynote speaker. She’ll share NCFL’s perspective on family literacy and how we can work more closely together to support families.
If you have good examples or ideas on how libraries drive literacy, please share!
